Seven Hills is a small, southern suburb located just six miles from the bustling city of Cleveland. Once a part of Independence, the city is now a distinct community with its own schools, parks, and local amenities.

Shopping and Dining

Seven Hills has several shopping centers. Stores include 7Hills Antiques, Conrad’s Tire Center, Napa Auto Parts, Bits & Bytes, Big K-Mart, Big Lots, and Walgreens. There also are several hair salons, insurance providers, banks, convenience stores, and service providers in the city. Seven Hills also is home to numerous restaurants and bars, including Seven Hills Tavern, Nice Place Café, Rocky’s Pizza and Restaurant, Demetrio’s Family Restaurant, Oven Fresh Pizza, Sneky Pete’s, George’s Pizza & Deli, Durty Nelly’s, Burger King, Pizza Hut, Wendy’s, and Dairy Queen. Additional shopping and dining opportunities are available less than two miles away in Independence, Brooklyn Heights, and Parma.

Parks and Recreation

Seven Hills real estate includes numerous parks within easy walking distance of most of the city’s residential neighborhoods. John Glenn Park and North Park feature tennis and basketball courts, baseball fields, and a children’s playground. North Park also has a sand volleyball court. Valleywood Park features a baseball field, a sand volleyball court, lighted tennis courts, a pavilion and picnic areas, and a children’s playground. Calvin Park features three baseball fields, lighted tennis courts, ice skating, volleyball, horseshoes, basketball, walking paths, a picnic area, and a children’s playground. Picnic areas and a playground also are available at Cricket Park. Seven Hills is also home to a hike-and-bike trail that meets up with the Cuyahoga Valley Recreation Area. Summer band concerts are held at the Summitview Commons on Broadview and Summitview Roads. The Commons is also home to three soccer fields.

Seven Hills’ mild summers and gorgeous, snow-filled winters provide plenty of opportunity for outdoor fun, but there’s plenty to do indoors as well. For rainy-day weather or indoor recreational fun, residents turn to The Calvin Park Recreation Center. The center is located in the Civic (City Hall) Park and features a fitness room with weights and cardio equipment, an aerobics studio, two gymnasiums, a suspended walking track, an indoor pool, and a child care facility. Group exercise classes and sports leagues are offered frequently. Residents also can bowl at Seven Hills Lanes.


Low unemployment, low crime rates, high income per capita, a stable housing market, and lots of local amenities makes Seven Hills a highly livable city. Annual festivals and seasonal events bring Seven Hills’ 11,804 people together on a regular basis. Summer activities include the Memorial Day Parade and the annual Home Days Celebration. Fall brings the Fall Fest and Chili Cook-Off/Craft Fair. The VFW Christmas Party is held in December. Median home cost for Seven Hills real estate in 2012 was $134,800. Zip code is 44131.

Schools, Health, and Transportation

Parma City School District operates four schools in Seven Hills: Col John Glenn Elementary, Green Valley Elementary, Hillside Junior High, and the award-winning Normandy High School. All four are excellent schools with low student to teacher ratios (16.1 to 1) and higher-than-average per student expenditures. Adult students have a choice of several area institutions of higher learning, including Cuyahoga Community College, Cleveland State University, Baldwin-Wallace College, and the University of Akron. There is also a DeVry University campus in Seven Hills.

Residents can obtain acute care and emergency health care services at Marymount Hospital in nearby Garfield Heights, at Parma Community General Hospital, or at the Metro Health Medical Center in Cleveland.

Seven Hills real estate is centrally located near interstates 77 and 480. Residents can travel via RTA bus route 35 to Broadview Heights, Parma, and Cleveland. The Amtrak station in Cleveland provides convenient rail service to destinations throughout the country. The Cleveland-Hopkins International Airport is less than 10 miles away.
