Shopping and Dining

Middleburg Heights residents are never far from life’s little necessities. Joann Fabrics, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and Avenue are located in the Southland Shopping Center. Parks and Recreation

Middleburg Heights’ mild summers and gorgeous winters make residents want to enjoy the outdoors year-round, and for outside recreation there’s no place quite like Big Creek Reservation. Home to a 2.4-mile-long, all-purpose trail that connects Lake Abram to Lake Isaac, the reservation is the perfect place for hiking, biking, and enjoying the 175 acres of headwater wetlands that lie between the two lakes. The reservation also provides numerous opportunities for fishing, ice fishing, picnicking, sledding, tobogganing, and playing. For fun indoors, residents head to the city’s award-winning community center, which features a multi-purpose gym, basketball courts, an aerobics room, a four-lane indoor track, saunas and steam rooms, a kidszone, and a 12,700 sq. ft. natatorium. With a 14-foot-tall water slide, a lazy river, a bubble couch, an in-water bench area, an above-deck hot tub, a three-lane lap area, a circular vortex, a 4.5-foot-deep open swim/aerobics area, and a shallow tot pool with water jets and slide, the free form wet area has something for everyone. The center’s seasonal outdoor pool offers additional water fun, including water cannons, tumble buckets, a lily-pad walk, and a 17-foot-tall water slide. The recreation department also offers a variety of sports programs throughout the year, including baseball, softball, tennis, soccer, and bocce ball.

Schools, Health, and Transportation

Middleburg Heights’ Big Creek Elementary School and Midpark High School are part of the Berea City School District. The schools are well regarded across the state and have high per student expenditures and low student to teacher ratios. Adult students have the option of attending either the Sanford-Brown College or the Polaris Career Center, both of which are located within the city’s limits. Several additional universities and colleges are located within a 30-mile radius, including Baldwin-Wallace University, Cleveland State University, Oberlin College, and John Carroll University.

Regency Hospital Cleveland West in Middleburg Heights provides extended acute care services to patients with complex medical cases. Southwest General Health Center, also in Middleburg Heights, is an award-winning hospital that provides shorter-term acute care and emergency services to area residents. The hospital is known for its heart and vascular, neurosciences, orthopedics, and women’s health services.

Middleburg Heights real estate is centrally located with convenient access to I-71, I-480, the Ohio turnpike, and other neighboring suburbs, including Berea, Brook Park, Parma, and Strongsville. The Amtrak station in Cleveland is around 11 miles from the city’s center. The Cleveland-Hopkins International Airport is less than three miles away. Area commuters can ride the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority’s bus system. Route 51 connects Middleburg Heights to Strongsville, Parma Heights, Parma, and Cleveland.
