Brook Park, Ohio is located less than 10 miles south of Cleveland in Cuyahoga County. The Brookgate Shopping Center comprises 208,000 square feet and is home to numerous retail shops and service providers, including the center’s anchor store, Marc’s. The center also serves as a city venue for community events, such as the Classic Car Wednesday Night Cruise-In, and as a “home base” for holiday parades. Floral shops, tool and hardware stores, supermarkets, and banks are located throughout the city. Conte Restaurant is one of the area’s most popular Italian restaurants. Diner favorites include the pasta fagioli and the Italian wedding soup. Goody’s Family Restaurant serves up homemade soups and delicious breakfast, lunch, and dinner entrees. Other restaurants in town include Bob Evans Farms Restaurant, Harpos Sports Café, Whisker’s Pub, Hong Kong Chinese, El Rincon Mexican, Del Sangro’s, Amazon Trail Seafood, Rally’s Hamburgers, East of Chicago Pizza, Arby’s, KFC, Taco Bell, McDonald’s, and Quizno’s.

Parks and Recreation

Brook Park real estate includes 12 city parks and two community pools. Kennedy Park features four horseshoe courts, four bocce ball courts, two pavilions with open fire places, picnic tables, barbeque grills, cement walkways, benches, a state-of-the-art children’s playground, and plenty of open space. American Legion Park features two baseball/softball fields, a basketball court, picnic tables and a picnic pavilion, and a state-of-the-art children’s playground. Wedo Park features a basketball court, two baseball fields, picnic tables, a concession stand, and a children’s playground. Children’s playgrounds also are available at Gallatin, Bernath, McGovern, Joe Konery, Fry Road, Sylvia, Cavanaugh, Stonecrest, and Carpenter parks. There’s also a seasonal water park and a community recreation center where residents can join sports leagues, swim, take group exercise and dance classes, learn Korean American martial arts, or attend educational workshops on nutrition and finance. The city’s recreation department also offers softball, tennis, soccer, basketball, volleyball, and football leagues.

Living

Berea City School District operates two elementary schools and one middle school in Brook Park. All three public schools are known for their high student expenditures (nearly $1,000 more per child per year than the national average) and low student to teacher ratios (16:1). High school students attend either Berea High School in Berea or Midpark High School in Middleburg Heights. Both cities are less than two miles south of Brook Park. Younger children are served by the Family Life Child Care Center.

Brook Park Urgicare on Snow Road provides occupational health services and urgent care services for children and adults seven days a week. Southwest General Health Center in Middleburg Heights offers acute care and emergency services. Additional hospitals are located nearby in Parma and Cleveland.

Downtown Cleveland is approximately 14 minutes from Brook Park on I-71. Commuters can travel into downtown Cleveland by car or via bus route 54. Residents of the city also have convenient access to domestic and international travel via the Cleveland-Hopkins International Airport.
